ALMA. THE HIDDEN ART IN NATURE, ACCENTUATED.

OUR STORY
Nine-year-old Arin sat among his peers in an auditorium. His gaze shifted to the marble wall facing him. Suddenly, he perceived an image within the veins of the stone. Enraptured by the revelation, Arin tried to communicate the wonder to others around him. No one else seemed to see the scene he saw. Instead, they mocked him.
As the years passed, Arin became increasingly conscious of the hidden beauty within the layers of natural stone, but the inability to showcase his vision led to a festering frustration. Arin confided in his friend Jay, sharing an image of an Italian stone he found online. Using his fingers, Arin illustrated a stunning artistic scene within the veins, expounding on the concept he called “psychovisual layering.” Jay had the foresight to comprehend the potential lying in Arin’s inspiration. He joined Arin and invested in a two-year journey to perfect a light-mapping process that clearly accentuates the hidden energies and stories within natural stone, bringing a fresh perspective to the world of fine arts.
IN 2018, JAY CHALLENGED ARIN to locate six natural stone slabs with the potential of artistic imagery within one year. In 2020, Jay launched ALMA studio to private collectors utilizing those six works as the inaugural “Substratum” collection. In the summer of 2021, ALMA Studio entered the commercial market.
Jay lives near New York City where he directs and conducts the ALMA Studio together with his team of artists and technicians. Arin runs a creative marketing firm he started years ago, yet continues to provide Jay and his team with signature stone masterpieces he finds, himself mapping the art of select works.
Jay and ALMA Studio look forward to sharing their work with the world and are keen to partner with art institutions and businesses interested in bringing this unique experience to the public.

ART IS THE EXPRESSION OF AN ARTIST’S INSPIRATION. I BELIEVE IN THE INSPIRATION FROM NATURE’S EXPRESSION.
– J. Zelingold
Directing an art studio and creating art was the furthest thing from Jay Zelingold’s mind. Yet, the story of a fascinating childhood experience that his friend Arin Jéda shared with him, became the catalyst for creating an unprecedented genre of captivating art.
